Last weekend CAFE attended an Assembly of Disability Access Officers (DAOs), alongside DAOs from clubs throughout Germany.

The event was organised by the Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) and held at the RheinEnergie Stadion, the home of Bundesliga club 1.Fc Köln.

CAFE’s Project Manager Jochen Kemmer presented on the importance of the DAO role, and in improving access and inclusion at football clubs and stadiums. Jochen also spoke about the CAFE Week of Action initiative and encouraged those in attendance to take part in 2018.

Speaking after the event, Jochen said “I was delighted to participate and present at the Assembly of the DAOs in Germany. These workshops are important in the development of the DAO role as it gives an opportunity to share experiences and best practice between clubs”.

Other topics discussed at the assembly included audio-descriptive commentary, accessible ticketing and an upcoming certification course for DAOs in Germany.

CAFE is grateful to Arne Stratmann and Katharina Baumann from DFL’s Fan Affairs team for organising this event, and we look forward to working with both the DFL and DAOs in Germany to help to promote wider inclusion through the unique power of football.
