CAFE is aiming to recruit disabled football fans to be appointed as CAFE accessibility monitors and evaluate accessible services, facilities and amenities available at this season’s UEFA Champions League Final in Istanbul.

CAFE works with UEFA to improve the matchday experience for disabled supporters at all of its club competition Finals and international competitions, including the UEFA European Championships and UEFA Nations League Finals.

To support these works, we are looking to recruit locally-based disabled fans to attend the UEFA Champions League Final, which is being held at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkiye, on Saturday 10 June 2023, as volunteers to provide detailed user-led feedback to CAFE post-match.

CAFE is looking for applications from differently disabled people, who are passionate about accessibility, and can draw upon their personal experience to evaluate matchday services, facilities, and amenities.

Apply to become a CAFE accessibility monitor at the UEFA Champions League Final 2023.

Successful applicants will need to submit valid proof of eligibility to CAFE. Valid proofs of eligibility for Turkish-based applicants include:

  • Both sides of the Turkish disability ID card;
  • All pages of the Turkish disability report letter;
  • Signed and recently dated doctors / hospital letter stating access requirements / need for accessibility tickets.

If required, a complimentary companion ticket and accessible parking permit (subject to availability) will be provided to all Accessibility Monitors.

A short online training for CAFE accessibility monitors will be provided by CAFE (either by Zoom or Microsoft Teams).

Applicants must be available to attend the UEFA Champions League Final on Saturday 10 June, kicking off at 22:00 local time.

Successful candidates must complete a CAFE Evaluation report and submit this alongside any photos and videos within 48 hours of the final whistle.

Appointed accessibility monitors must also be available to clarify responses and provide additional information up to 48 hours after the end of the match.

CAFE will share all reports and supplementary evidence with UEFA and the host venue, so that any areas of concern can be highlighted.

CAFE and UEFA hope that feedback received from accessibility monitors will encourage long-term and sustainable improvements for locally-based disabled spectators as a legacy of hosting the UEFA Champions League Final 2023.

The CAFE accessibility monitor programme information pack provides further details on the aims and responsibilities of the role. The information pack is also available to download in Turkish.
