A 9-year old disabled fan has won Everton FC's Goal of the Month competition for January 2016.

George Shaw, who has cerebral palsy, was invited to Everton's match against Swansea FC by Spanish international midfielder Gerard Deulofeu. George's father, Dave, had posted a video on Twitter of George taking part in a football training session wearing an Everton shirt with Deulofeu's name on the back.

The video received widespread exposure and caught the attention of Deulofeu, who invited George to an upcoming match and presented him with a pair of his boots and a signed shirt.

At the match, George was presented with a full kit with his name on, and met the first-team squad. At half time, George came onto the pitch to score a goal and received a great reception from the crowd.

George was shortlisted for the club's Goal of the Month alongside international players including Ross Barkley, Kevin Mirallas and Aaron Lennon. He won the competition, receiving over 86% of the total votes.
