Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder recently donated his Turkish Süper Kupa medal to a disabled Galatasaray fan.

The Süper Kupa is an annual match between the winners of the Süper Lig and the Turkish Cup, and acts as a curtain raiser for the upcoming season. This season’s match between Galatasaray and Besiktas finished 1-1, with Galatasaray winning a penalty shootout 3-0.

After the Galatasaray squad were presented with their winners medals, Sneijder spotted a disabled fan and gave him an unforgettable experience.

Sneijder is the vice-Captain of Galatasaray and a former captain of the Netherlands national football team. He is one of the Netherlands’ most decorated players and has played more times for his country than any other outfield player.

Sneijder posed for a photograph with the disabled fan, before presenting the supporter with his medal.

CAFE Managing Director Joyce Cook said, “This is a great gesture from one of the most well-known players in the game, and a wonderful demonstration of the unique power that football has to be more inclusive and to change lives”.

Social media has responded in a hugely positive manner, with many users labelling Sneijder as a “class act”. Galatasaray also tweeted the image, captioning it “This is for our supporters!”
