The CAFE Week of Action ..

As a successful applicant of the CAFE Week of Action small grants programme, the Dunfermline Athletic Disabled Supporters Club (DADSC) took part in a number of activities in celebration of #TotalAccess with the full support of the Club and Disability Access Officer (DAO) Graham Ross.

For the first time ever, DADSC were named as Match Sponsors for the Club's home fixture to Greenock Morton. This gave the opportunity for DADSC members to name the Man of the Match via social media, and to raise wider awareness of the group and their works.

This landmark was very well received across social media, and was picked up by local news outlets including the Dunfermline Press

A CAFE Week of Action banner was manufactured and displayed at East End Park during the campaign. As well as being photographed along with the Dunfermline Athletic matchday mascot, Sammy the Tammy, it also featured in a Pars TV-produced video (see below), highlighting the club's commitment to providing an inclusive matchday experience for disabled fans.

The video features interviews with club DAO Graham Ross, as well as DADSC Chair Dave Nugent and David Henderson, who has provided audio-descriptive commentary for partially sighted and blind fans at the stadium for around 15 years.

Commenting on the Week of Action activities, DADSC Secretary John Simpson said, "#TotalAccess is what every football club should be aspiring to achieve."

Dave Nugent added, "What a privilege it was to be part of the CAFE Week of Action - anything to improve awareness of the issues faced by disabled fans can only be a good thing."

We would like to extend a huge thank you to John, Dave, and everyone at DADSC and Dunfermline Athletic for their support during the CAFE Week of Action 2021, and their continued efforts to improve the experiences of all disabled fans.

The CAFE Week of Action small grants programme offers funding to disabled supporters and DSAs to participate in the CAFE Week of Action. Grants of up to €250 were available, subject to a successful application to CAFE. A similar programme will be made available ahead of the CAFE Week of Action 2022.

The CAFE Week of Action 2021 summary report will be published in due course, with information for the 2022 campaign to be published later in the year.
