Disability has been included in the final draft of the FIFA Statues, ahead of FIFA's Extraordinary Congress on 26 February.

In the proposed Statutes, Article 4 prohibits discrimination based on a number of protected characteristics and disability has been added to this.

The draft Article 4 reads as follows:

4 - Non-discrimination, gender equality and stance against racism

Discrimination of any kind against a country, private person or group of people on account of race, skin colour, ethnic, national or social origin, gender, disability, language, religion, political opinion or any other opinion, wealth, birth or any other status, sexual orientation or any other reason is strictly prohibited and punishable by suspension or expulsion.

In November 2015, CAFE called for disability and inclusion to be at the heart of FIFA reforms. We hope that the draft clause will be endorsed by member nations and look forward to the outcome.
