CAFE Managing Director speaks on BBC Radio

CAFE Managing Director Joyce Cook OBE spoke yesterday with BBC Radio 5 Live and the BBC World Service about the issues faced by disabled football fans attending live matches.

Joyce was speaking in wake of UEFA's decision to investigate allegations that disabled fans were abused whilst attending the recent UEFA Champions League match between Paris Saint Germain and Chelsea FC.

Joyce welcomed the "prompt and decisive action" that UEFA has taken in light of the incident, and added "It is not uncommon for disabled fans to be asked to hide their team colours and to not celebrate goals".

"As a football fan, part of the enjoyment of going to a live match is to be with your own fans... disabled fans are no different".
