English speakers based in Qatar are encouraged to apply for CAFE's ADC commentary training programme taking place in Doha, with a view to commentating at the upcoming FIFA Arab Cup 2021 and 2022 FIFA World Cup.

In partnership with the Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU) Translation and Interpreting Institute (TII), CAFE is delivering an audio-descriptive commentary (ADC) training programme to provide an opportunity for selected candidates to provide the service.

ADC is a dedicated accessible service, enabling partially sighted and blind people to follow live matches inside the stadium alongside their fellow supporters.

No prior experience of commentating or ADC is required - this is a perfect opportunity for English speakers based in Qatar with a passion for football to get involved in two major tournaments.

Apply to take part in the training programme today!

The English training, delivered by an expert member of CAFE's ADC Network, will take place at the Hamad bin Khalifa University in Doha and will commence on 7 November.

Training will be delivered to small groups, between 4:00 – 7:00 pm from Sundays to Thursdays, and specific training sessions will be held on Saturdays (time to be arranged with participants).

Applicants must submit a 60-second audio recording of themselves commentating over a football clip of their choice, in English. Candidates will be admitted to the training on the basis of their overall aptitude for commentating. Applications will not be judged on the quality of the audio recording, i.e. no professional recording is required.

Successful candidates will be given the opportunity to take part in the full training programme and to commentate at the FIFA Arab Cup 2021.
