Getting to the stadium

Bus: The main Bilbao bus routes to the stadium from the city are the 38, 56, 76 and A3927. There are bus stops located approximately 50 metres from the stadium perimeter. Most of the buses that operate in Bilbao have low-level floors, ramps and space on board for up to two wheelchairs.

Air: The nearest airport to the Estadio San Mamés is Bilbao Airport which is located approximately 14km from the stadium. The airport is fully accessible for disabled passengers with automatic doors, lifts and accessible toilets throughout the airport buildings.

Assistance at the airport can be reserved by completing the airport's online assistance form or by telephoning Bilbao airport on +34 91 321 1000. Disabled passengers should also book assistance through their travel operator.

From the airport, disabled spectators can take Bizkaibus Line Bus A3247 from outside the terminal building to Bilbao Bus Terminal which is approximately 800 metres from the stadium. Most of the buses that run from the airport to Bilbao bus terminal have space on board for two wheelchairs and have an automatic ramp to aid boarding.

Metro/Tram: The nearest metro station to the stadium is the San Mamés metro stop which is located around 500 metres from the stadium podium.

All metro stations in the city, including the San Mamés station are accessible for disabled passengers with lifts and level boarding access for wheelchair users and passengers with limited mobility.

The nearest tram stop to the stadium is the San Mamés, which is located approximately 650 metres from the stadium podium. The tram stop and tram vehicles which operate at this stop are fully accessible.

Accessible parking and drop-off/pick-up points

There is limited accessible car parking available in the stadium's underground car park and there is also limited off-street accessible parking around the stadium that is in use for disabled spectators on matchdays.


Ticketing

The stadium have advised that disabled spectators wishing to attend an Athletic Club home match are able to purchase tickets at the stadium box office. Disabled spectators will also be offered a complimentary companion ticket if required.


Entering the stadium

Each stand at the stadium has one accessible entrance point - Gates 1, 8, 16 and 23. Accessible entrances are indicated by the internationally recognised sign for disability placed above the entrance point.

Spectator viewing areas

Wheelchair User spaces: 208. 

Located across all areas of Level 0. All wheelchair user spaces have adjacent companion seating. 

Spaces are sheltered and have adequate sightlines. A raised viewing platform in section 110 improves sightlines further. 

There are no designated wheelchair user spaces are available in the VIP and hospitality areas of the stadium, but seating can be removed to create wheelchair user spaces if required and if enough notice is given by guests who require this.

Easy Access seating spaces: 102. 

Located in Level 0, with adjacent companion seating. 

Easy Access seats are available in VIP and hospitality areas with limited stepped access to the seating areas.

Accessible concessions

There are food and drink concessions located close to all the accessible viewing areas. Each concession has one low-level serving counter available.

Hospitality lounges have sufficient space for wheelchair users to circulate and accessible toilets nearby. A mix of high and low tables are available in the hospitality lounges. There are no low-level serving counters at the bars with the hospitality areas.

The club shop has level access and an accessible changing room. There are no low-level counters at the cash desks.

There is level access into the San Mamés restaurant and sufficient space for wheelchair users to circulate once inside.


Accessible toilets

There are 7 accessible male toilets and 7 accessible female toilets located across level 0. The accessible toilets offer a mixture of left and right hand transfer. The accessible toilets are indicated by peninsular signage using the internationally recognised symbol for disability, which is placed at an adequate height so it is visible in crowded concourses. 

Accessible toilets within the hospitality areas are similar to the accessible toilets in the general allocation areas of the stadium.
