The nearest airport to the National Filip II Arena is Skopje "Alexander the Great" airport, which is located approximately 24km from the stadium. For further information on the services available at the airport for disabled passengers at Skopje "Alexander the Great" airport, please see here

Taxis are available out the terminal building to take passengers from the airport to Skopje centre. Journey time is around 25 minutes. CAFE are unable to confirm if any of the vehicles used are wheelchair accessible. Further details on the airport taxi service including contact details for queries can be found here

By Foot

The National Filip II Arena sits on the western bank of the Vardar River and is centrally lcated just nrthwest of Skopje's city centre. It is an approximate 15 minute walk to the stadium from the central Macedonia Square. This is the most popular method of getting to and from the stadium on matchdays

By Taxi

Taxis are available from the city centre to the stadium. However, CAFE are unable to confirm if any the vehicles are wheelchair accessible.

By Train

Skopje's main railway station is located approximately 4km from the Filip II Arena. Details of train timetables and very limited information for disabled travellers including a local telephone number to enquire about accessibility at the station, please click here

Accessible Car Parking

There is a car park on the south east side of the stadium, street parking is also available on some matchdays. Current accessible parking spaces do not have access or safety zones markings

Stadium Perimeter

Signage around the stadium perimeter is severely limited and there is no tactile wayfinding to assist blind and partially sighted spectators around the stadium grounds. Many routes around the stadium are largely inaccessible with either stepped access or steep slopes. There is tactile paving in the park that leads to the stadium but it's quite even in parts and is a potential trip hazard.

Match: Supercup 2017 Manchester- Real

Published: 27/9/2017

Our personal experience with our disable child was fantastic for the UEFA Supercup 2017. The accessibility was completely provided, the parking area for vehicles for disable was assigned, we were helped in all areas from FFM volunteers and our son had great time resting and refreshing at the refreshment area that was also adapted. We had purchased the accessibility tickets for the UEFA Supercup, and the space for wheelchairs is wide enough for wheelchair maneuvers and escort person.
The only part that is missing in Macedonia are official vehicles for transport of disable guests. That is something that should be considered for solving in the near future. We had our private adaptive van, but we could notice that other guests were missing the adaptive transport  in Macedonia.
From our previous local experience with Football Federation of Macedonia (FFM), we have to mention that our son Jane as a passionate football fan, was included in the campaign “Captains of changes” for raising awareness of the social inclusion for people with disability in Macedonia as a player’s escort. This campaign had very positive reactions and made such a wonderful impact on the local level. That's the power of football!
