The final celebration of the CAFE Week of Action 2016 took place this weekend in Northern Ireland.

A CAFE Week of Action banner has been installed at Windsor Park, Belfast, to celebrate the opening of a new accessible seating area inside the stadium.

The banner was unveiled prior to Northern Ireland’s friendly with Belarus, which the home side won 3-0.

The new accessible seating area is located at the rear of the East Stand, and is part of the ongoing renovations taking place at Windsor Park. The area provides spaces for 47 wheelchair users and their companions, with additional spaces to be created around the stadium in a variety of viewing positions.

Aubrey Bingham, a long-time supporter of CAFE and our works, is a disabled Northern Irish fan. He has liaised with the Irish FA and its Football for All programme on installing the banner.

Aubrey said, “It was a great celebration of disabled fans at the match, and we were delighted to cheer the Northern Irish team on from the new elevated seating area for disabled fans. We are proud to spread the message of the CAFE Week of Action – Total Football Total Access and represent Northern Ireland in celebrating the initiative”.
