Earlier this month, CAFE Head of Development Elena Karpukhina travelled to Tbilisi, Georgia to meet with the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs.

Elena had previously met with the Ministry last September and introduced them to CAFE’s works. She also explained the importance of audio-descriptive commentary and discussed a project to launch the service in Georgia.

At the meeting, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between CAFE and the Ministry. The memorandum outlines how both parties will work together to promote good access in Tbilisi and implement accessible services to better integrate disabled people into Georgian society. The Ministry is also working closely with the City Hall on moving the project forwards. A video from this meeting can be found here.

Elena said, “It was great to meet with the Ministry again and sign this memorandum of cooperation. To have so many disabled people attend this ceremony shows how important good access is. Both CAFE and the Ministry are committed to working together to improve access for disabled people in Georgia”.

Whilst in Tbilisi, Elena also met with Kakhaberi Gvantseladze of the Technology Development Fund. The organisation is currently working on reconstructing the Dinamo Arena in Tbilisi. Representatives from City Hall also attended this meeting, as they are helping to fund this work.
