CAFE DAO Project Manager Jochen Kemmer recently travelled to Reykjavík to meet with Disability Access Officers (DAOs) from Icelandic clubs and the Football Association of Iceland (KSÍ).

The meeting was held at Iceland's Laugardalsvöllur national stadium, which also serves as the headquarters of the KSÍ.

Whilst at the meeting, Jochen provided an introduction to CAFE and our works, and information about the Disability Access Officer role.

Article 35bis of UEFA's Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play regulations requires clubs to appoint a dedicated Disability Access Officer to act as a dedicated contact point for disabled fans, and to advise the club on access and inclusion.

Jochen also provided a detailed Disability Access Officer training session, advising further on some of the key requirements and duties associated with the role.

A disability inclusion and etiquette training session was also included, looking at ways to best communicate with a range of disabled people.

Haukur Hinriksson, Head of Legal & Club Licensing at the KSÍ, said, "Jochen Kemmer, on behalf of CAFE, brought to us a very important topic on disability access to football stadiums. The topic is the main focus for the 2017/2018 licensing period in Iceland and the presentations from Jochen, for clubs in the country, were very needed and highly appreciated".

Jochen said, "It was a pleasure to travel to Reykjavík and discuss some of the many benefits of the Disability Access Officer role. We would like to thank the KSÍ for welcoming us to Laugardalsvöllur and joining us in the training session".
