Hearing loss is often overlooked when designing facilities and providing services, despite it presenting one of the largest single disabilities.

The installation of assistive hearing devices is recommended for both new and existing stadiums by the UEFA and CAFE Good Practice Guide to Creating an Accessible Stadium and Matchday Experience – Access for All.

Since the publication of this guide in 2009, understanding and technologies around assistive hearing devices within stadia have increased and improved. CAFE have therefore published a Guidance Note on Assistive Listening Devices, with the objective of providing the latest information to stadiums on the installation of assistive hearing devices for their deaf and hard of hearing spectators.

The CAFE Guidance Note can be downloaded here.
