The FA is delighted – and extremely proud – to be able to share a short film looking behind the scenes of the critically-acclaimed film, Next Goal Wins.

Next Goal Wins charts the American Samoan national football team’s journey towards qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and was screened at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday night. The film goes on general release in a few weeks.

The short film, produced by FATV, features interviews with two of the film and team’s stars – Jaiyah Saelua, the first ever transgender person to play in a World Cup qualifying match; and Thomas Rongen, the coach who took on his challenging role with the team three weeks prior to their first qualifying match.

The FA are committed to making sure that everyone can enjoy participating in football, whoever they are and wherever they come from, free from fear of discrimination; and the work The FA has done to promote the messages of Next Goal Wins is one demonstration of that commitment.
