On Wednesday 9 December at 1500 GMT / 1600 CET, CAFE will be hosting an online Disability Hate Crimes and Incidents webinar to help raise wider awareness of what constitutes a hate crime and the options available to disabled people.

Hosted by CAFE's Fan Liaison and Access Officer Amy Wilson, and Research Officer Isobel Robins, this virtual event will aim to highlight examples of disability hate crime and incidents within a sporting context, discuss the impact disability abuse can have on disabled fans, and explore what can be done to help prevent future cases.

This event will also be an opportunity for CAFE to receive feedback on our newly-developed website reporting form from potential users, and to encourage clubs to take a proactive role in challenging disability hate crime.

We will be joined by two panellists for this discussion, Pavel Klymenko and Dr Miro Griffiths.

Pavel is the Head of Policy - Global Monitoring and Human Rights at Fare Network. In his role, Pavel manages Fare's observer programme which identifies instances of abuse and discrimination at football matches.

The observer system allows Fare to better understand the scope of the issue, collect evidence and conduct an analysis, and call for responsible action by governing bodies.

Miro is a disabled activist and academic, currently based at the University of Leeds, England. His research explores disabled people's experiences of activism, social movements, and disability politics.

He is a policy adviser to the UK Government and European Commission and supports, disabled people's organisations across the UK and Europe. Miro is also a football fan, and has been a season ticket holder at Wigan Athletic for the last 15 years.

The webinar will take place via Zoom, and registered participants will receive login details ahead of the event.

This webinar is open to all including disabled fans, Disabled Supporter Association (DSA) members, Disability Access Officers, club and league representatives, and national association officials. There will be a question and answer session with all of our panellists at the end of the discussion.
