Following recent discussions surrounding UEFA sanctions and the press release issued by the Football Supporters Europe (FSE) network on Friday 20th March 2015, the Centre for Access to Football in Europe (CAFE) wishes to re-affirm that our works and projects are focused on the promotion of accessible sports stadia and inclusive match days to help ensure that disabled people can enjoy live football across Europe. CAFE continues to work with UEFA and its stakeholders towards this aim.  

When it comes to other supporter related topics, the FSE network acts as an independent voice for its members.

Editorial note

In July 2014, UEFA imposed a partial stadium closure on Paris Saint-Germain after finding the club guilty of discriminatory conduct towards disabled Chelsea FC fans. This sanction was reduced on appeal to a fine of €50,000 with the club ordered to carry out specific stadium transformations (in order that disabled people are better protected during UEFA competitions).

CAFE welcomed this determined decision taken by UEFA, which sent a clear message to all clubs that abuse of disabled fans will not be tolerated.
