On June 26th 2013 CAFE Head of Development in Eastern Europe Elena Karpukhina and CAFE Project Coordinator in Ukraine Olena Zhyvaikina visited the Centre of Paralympic and Defalympic Trainin and Rehabilitation of Disabled People situated near Yevpatoria. A meeting between representatives of Ukranian non-governmental organisations of disabled people and members of local accessibility committees took place from June 24th to 28th.

The aim of the conference was to implement the Ukrainian programme of the National Assembly of Disabled People “Creating free access to housing and public objects for disabled people in Ukraine”.

CAFE representatives provided a presentation about the goals and areas of our activity. They then presented the Good Practice Guide “Access for All”, a document developed by UEFA and CAFE to creating an accessible stadium and matchday experience.

Some of the NGO representatives were already familiar with CAFE’s work and enjoy the good results: e.g. Oleg Lepetyuk, head of the Kharkiv non-governmental organisation of blind lawyers, expressed the gratitude from all partially sighted and blind football supporters of FC Metalist for the implementation of audio described commentary.

CAFE would like to thank the NADP for the invitation to participate in this event and we are looking forward to further cooperation with all conference participants.
