The Centre for Access to Football in Europe is working with UEFA to provide audio-descriptive commentary at every match at UEFA EURO 2020.

In partnership with expert trainers from Alan March Sport Ltd., CAFE is holding a series of two-day training seminars in UEFA EURO 2020 host cities. We are inviting everyone who loves football and wants to get involved to apply to take part in our Rome seminar today!

No past experience of providing commentary is required, and you don’t need to be an English speaker to apply. The service will be provided in Italian during UEFA EURO 2020 matches played in Rome.

You must be living in or around the Rome area for both days of the training seminar, and during UEFA EURO 2020 if selected. The training seminar will take place at Stadio Olimpico on 23-24 March 2020.

If you wish to apply to attend the seminar, please send your name, age and contact details, as well as a 30-second audio clip of you describing any of your favourite goals, to [email protected]. Please also make sure you add 'ROME' in the email subject.

The closing date for applications is Thursday 12 March 2020, and we will let you know if your application has been successful shortly after.

CAFE Media and Communications Manager Michael Rice said, "CAFE has worked with UEFA to introduce audio-descriptive commentary at its tournaments and competition Finals for a number of years, enabling many partially sighted and blind spectators to enjoy football's biggest matches alongside their friends and families. If you love football and want to be a part of the biggest UEFA European Championships to date, then we urge you to apply today".

After the seminar has taken place, trainees will be given a series of short tasks to complete at home to further develop their commentary skills. Two trainees in each host city will then be selected to commentate at all UEFA EURO 2020 matches played in the city.

If you have any questions, please contact CAFE Media and Communications Manager Michael Rice at [email protected]. We look forward to receiving your applications!
