Meet the Team
Managing Director, Company Secretary and Trustee
Joanna joined CAFE in November 2014 as our Fan Liaison and Development Manager, and was named as Managing Director in November 2016.
She is fluent in French and Portuguese and graduated with a masters degree at the King’s College London Brazil Institute. Joanna has skills in project coordination, working with French and Portuguese clients and also brings knowledge from having worked and volunteered for a number of organisations such as Emmaüs France, and their partner organisation in Burkina Faso, with the Brazilian Paralympic Team and with ReachOut in London.
Jo will use her experience of academic research to work with disabled fans with the aim of bringing greater understanding of the challenges and barriers they face and identifying where and how CAFE can offer further support.
Media and Communications Manager
Mike joined the CAFE team after graduating, with honours, with a Law degree from the University of Liverpool. Originally, Mike shared his time between CAFE and our sister organisation Level Playing Field, where he worked as Development Administrator. Mike has previously worked as a Data Analyst for Everton Football Club’s Academy, where he was able to gain a real understanding of working in a football environment and the behind-the-scenes work of an English Premier League club. Mike has spent time working in the Liverpool Law Clinic, acting as an advisor to clients with legal concerns. Furthermore, Mike has also been a Trustee of Level Playing Field.
Mike brings an extensive knowledge of the football industry to the team – he has played for and captained teams ever since a young age, and has followed his side across the country and Europe as a supporter. Mike also possesses several youth football coaching qualifications. Mike is a keen cricket player and fan, and takes an interest in various other sports.
As CAFE’s Media and Communications Manager, Mike is based in our UK offices and is responsible for CAFE social media and communications. Mike also maintains the CAFE website, collates articles for the newsletters and works closely with the rest of the team.
