UEFA EURO 2016: A Rendez-vous for all
As the second wave of UEFA EURO 2016 ticket sales begins, UEFA encourages disabled fans to come to the finals in France, with accessibility tickets available along with improved facilities.
In keeping with UEFA's policy of promoting access to football for all, across every tournament in Europe, UEFA EURO 2016 will offer improved services for disabled people with a view to creating a better, more inclusive matchday experience. Audio-description and signage, in particular, are two areas which are being developed to increase inclusivity at the event.
People living with a disability – visible or not – not only represent the largest minority group, they are also very welcome at the heart of European football. UEFA encourages them to take their rightful place as football fans at the forthcoming UEFA EURO 2016 finals, being played in ten venues in France. The second wave of tickets for the championship, including accessibility tickets, goes on sale today so please feel free to apply.
Many people have already joined the 'Total Football, Total Access' movement. Disabled and non-disabled fans alike, as well as decision-makers and people working in football and at stadiums, are supporting the 'Respect Access for All' initiative at UEFA EURO 2016. Alongside social responsibility partner, the Centre for Access to Football in Europe (CAFE), UEFA gives its full backing to disabled fans throughout Europe. Together we provide practical advice and solutions for football clubs and national associations in making both existing and new stadiums accessible, inclusive and welcoming to all. 'Football for all Abilities' forms part of UEFA's football social responsibility portfolio with the goal of increasing playing opportunities for disabled people.
