Joyce Cook speaks on UEFA Matchday Live
CAFE Managing Director Joyce Cook joined the UEFA Champions League Matchday Live radio show last night to discuss access and inclusion and our recent International Conference – Total Football Total Access.
Matchday Live is the official radio show of the UEFA Champions League and is available via UEFA.com on UEFA Champions League matchdays. The show features match highlights, expert analysis and player interviews.
Speaking to presenter Rob Daly, Joyce spoke about common issues faced by disabled fans across Europe and how, with UEFA’s support, CAFE is working to ensure that any disabled person feels welcome within football whether as fans, players, coaches, employees or decision makers.
Joyce said, “Disabled people make up the largest minority and if we are going to take our rightful places… then the barriers that still exclude us must be removed. It’s not only a moral obligation, it makes good business sense and of course there is a compelling legal case”.
Joyce was also asked about access improvements around UEFA EURO 2016, saying “The whole matchday journey during the tournament will get better and better, and I think people can come to France next year with a confidence that they are going to be made welcome and able to enjoy the matchday experience”.
