FC Twente in Europe

13 January 2012

In recent years, FC Twente have mounted a serious challenge to the traditional big three in Holland – Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord. As a result, they find themselves playing in major European competitions. For Laurens van Elzakker and his father Corne, both of whom are big fans of the club, this means they have had the opportunity to experience away games abroad for the first time.

CAFE Western European Development Officer Keith Ferguson met up with them both during a recent visit to the Netherlands. They had some very positive comments about their recent visits to Fulham F.C. and Odense B.K. in the Europa League. Corne was particularly pleased with the reception they received when they arrived at Craven Cottage, which included a stadium tour courtesy of the club.

Laurens is keen on setting up a FC Twente DSA, and in the coming months we will be keeping in touch with him to see how this is progressing. Good luck Laurens!
