To mark International Day of Disabled People on 3rd December 2011, CAFE were present at the the All-Ukrainian Congress’s “Barrier Free Ukraine” event in Kiev. The conference was hosted by the National Assembly for Disabled People in Ukraine – our Ukrainian local implementing partner for the UEFA EURO 2012 Respect Inclusion project.
At the event, our Eastern European Development Officer Elena Karpukhina was presented with a very unique t-shirt by the Kharkiv NGO of Blind Lawyers. The t-shirt features the CAFE logo and motto – “Total Football, Total Access” – but in a special gum rather than printed on. This creates tactile print which then can be read by a blind or partially sighted person. “Total Football, Total Access” is also embossed in braille format underneath.
We think it’s a great idea to raise awareness and deliver our message to the general public. It’s a simple and effective way to draw attention, and looks great!
