You can apply for tickets to the London 2012 Paralympic Games between 9 September 2011 and 6pm on 26 September 2011.
The Paralympic Games have their origins in the Stoke Mandeville Games, which were first held in 1948 when Dr Ludwig Guttmann organised a wheelchair archery competition at Stoke Mandeville hospital for World War II soldiers with spinal cord injuries. The competition took place on the same day as the Opening Ceremony of the London 1948 Olympic Games.
Since then, the event has grown dramatically. In September 2012, more than 4,000 athletes from all over the world will compete in 20 Paralympic sports across 19 stunning venues.
