European Congress of Ex-Footballers

Recently CAFE attended a European Congress of Ex-Footballers which was held in The Great Assembly Hall at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. The Congress, which included many Polish and European ex-players was led by Dariusz Dziekanowski, President of the Polish Ex-footballers Federation.

CAFE Managing Director Joyce Cook joined our colleagues from FARE (Football Against Racism in Europe) Piara Powar and Rafal Pankowski in addressing the Congress audience.

Joyce spoke about the importance of good access to football stadiums for disabled people and the inclusion of a wider and more representative fan base. Joyce requested that delegates use their influence and the powerful voice of football to help CAFE in raising awareness and promoting in the remove of the attitudinal, physical, sensory or intellectual barriers that restrict the rights of some many disabled people across the European region.
