10 Boroughs in 10 Days for the Birdman of Manchester
Charity run for the Lord Mayor of Manchester Charity Appeal Trust

Manchester PR man Chris Bird has set himself a challenge to run the 10 boroughs of Manchester in 10 days in a bid to raise £10k for the Lord Mayor of Manchester’s Charity Appeal Trust.

Chris Bird, Chairman of the BIRD Consultancy, Chief Executive of Sports Tours International and CAFE Director and Trustee and Level Playing Field Vice President. Will be running 100 miles across Greater Manchester, from town hall to town hall in just 10 days.

Starting at Manchester’s Albert Square on Monday 18th April Chris will be donning his running shoes and making his way through the city to Stockport, followed by Trafford, Salford, Wigan, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale, Oldham, Tameside before returning to Manchester on Wednesday 27th April.

As the Chairman of the Fundraising Committee for the Lord Mayors Appeal, Chris is also keen to help raise the profile of the charity who’s key message is ‘Give a little, Help a lot’ to alleviate the effects of poverty within the City of Manchester.

He said: “The Lord Mayor’s Charity recognises those causes and initiatives that cannot compete with the larger charities. This is Manchester’s charity and I hope every step I run will help generate much-needed funds for important community initiatives.

“This challenge will help me achieve a personal goal both for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal and for myself. I hope that by demonstrating my commitment to the charity, others will follow and see how the appeal can help and support hundreds of families and individuals in the city.

“I’m very proud to have been asked to Chair the Lord Mayor’s Charity. Manchester has given me some great personal and business opportunities and I always look for ways to put something back into our great city. The 100 mile challenge will be a worthwhile test I’m sure.”

Chris is counting on friends and business contacts across Manchester to help him reach his £10k target and has set up a justgiving page. If you would like to sponsor Chris please visit www.justgiving.com/ChrisBird3.

The Lord Mayor of Manchester’s Charity Appeal Trust, a registered charity, helps to alleviate the effects of poverty within the City of Manchester. The Charity was formed to help fund charitable causes for the general benefit of the citizens of the City of Manchester.

To date thousands of pounds have been donated by the Trust to a variety of needy causes in the City, helping the young, sick, the infirm and the elderly.

From assisting in community projects such as buying a cow for an Inner City Community farm, to helping transport elderly residents for a Christmas pantomime, the Charity is committed to making a real difference to the lives of those who genuinely need help.

Perhaps the highest profile activity of the Trust is the financial support it provides to many underprivileged families enabling them to enjoy a modest but desperately needed holiday.
