Euro 2012: Special needs in focus

8 March 2011

Disabled supporters at Donbass Arena

Donetsk authorities promised to create the necessary conditions for free movement of disabled people in public places in the city before EURO 2012. This information is provided by the information center “Ukraine-2012”, referring to Mayor Alexander Lukyanchenko.

According to the project, between the fan zone and "Donbass Arena" there will appear ramps, special lanes, passages and accessible toilets. The needs of people with limited mobility will also be taken into account in the new terminal of Donetsk airport. The city has 76 shuttle buses equipped with special lifts, and will purchase 50 more units of transport equipped with such devices for passengers with special needs before EURO 2012.

As for Donbass Arena, all the conditions for free access and comfortable stay at the stadium for disabled fans were created during its construction. The new Donetsk stadium is considered to be the most convenient public place for disabled people in the city.
