The first meeting was held at the National Stadium, Hampden Park courtesy of the S.P.L. to whom we are grateful for providing such excellent accessible facilities.
Keith Ferguson from the Centre for Access to Football in Europe asked those attending to consider it was important to have the SDSA up and running as quickly as possible, have a structure in place and then move on to the issues affecting access to football for all.
It's early days however in order to encourage particaption from all DSA's in Scotland it was decided to allow a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 delegates from each club to attend open meetings to ensure that personal assistance was readily available and that PA opinions were also taken into account. The following also came forward as willing to serve as office bearers on an interim basis and we wish them the very best in the future.Gary Cleland who is a member of the Hearts Disabled Supporters Club will take on the Chairman's role assisted by Sandy Riach (chairman of the Aberdeeen FC DSA) as vice chairman. Sharon McCaskie from the newly formed Motherwell DSA volunteered as Secretary with Allan Melrose (Livingston DSA) stepping into the treasurer's role.
First step is to put in place a constituion and it was agreed the four new interim office bearers would work on drafting this as a priority. CAFE are able to provide examples and templates to help them get started.
Next step is to identify more delegates to ensure every DSA is represented and to set up meetings in January to take the project yet another step forward.
