International Fans Seminars

23 November 2010

Keith Ferguson (first from the right) during Football for all seminars in BelfastIt was a pleasure to be invited to represent CAFE - Centre for Access to Football in Europe at a seminar held in Belfast last week hosted by the Amalgamation of Official Northern Ireland Supporters Clubs and the Irish Football Association’s Football For All Community Relations Department.

Michael Boyd and Jim Rainey from these groups respectively have been excellent supporters of CAFE and our Development Officer, Keith Ferguson was glad to help out as one of the speakers. The work that is being done in Northern Ireland to challenge sectarianism and bigotry is to be applauded and has been very successful. DCAL Minister Nelson McCausland was a special guest at the event and he commented in a very positive manner on how the various problems from the past had been tackled.Various other fans groups and NGOs including FAE and the FSE were represented along with supporters from Croatia, Germany, Denmark and Slovenia with their speeches providing an enlightening insite into fans experiences attending football both locally and abroad.
