The 3rd December is the International Day of Disabled People and many of our partners across Europe will be celebrating the day.
Please see below for a taste of some of the events and activities taking place to mark this special day:
CAFE
CAFE will be participating in the Annual Policy Conference for the European Day of People with Disabilities organised by the European Commission in close cooperation with the European Disability Forum (EDF). This year’s Conference "Acting locally for a society for all" will take place in Brussels on 1 and 2 December with a session dedicated to leisure and culture. The Conference will focus on how EU action/legislation reaches the local level and will provide examples of disability mainstreaming. The conference is designed for Member States High Level representatives, representatives of People with Disabilities, stakeholders, Social Partners and policy experts, involved in the mainstreaming of disabilities issues in EU policies and activities.
Integracja
Grand Gala of Integracja 2010 - On 2nd December in Warsaw the Grand Gala of Integracja will take place. It is the biggest event for disabled people in Poland. Participants will have an opportunity to recall all the major events of 2010, to hear a summary of activities carried out by politicians, learn about the winners of competitions organized around disability. Above all, however, they will be able to sing along with guest stars of the Polish scene: Krzysztof Cugowskim, Ursula, VOX band and Monica Kuszyńską from Varius Manx.
Irish Football Association
As a part of celebration of International Day of disability on 3rd December the Irish Football Association (IFA) is holding a Regional Schools Disability Cup competition at Craigavon Leisure Centre from 11am – 1pm. This is a 5-a-side indoor competition for schools for Learning Disabled students and has 2 categories; one for 11-14 year olds and one for students 15 years and over. The IFA hopes to have 5 – 10 teams attending. Kilmarnock Disabled Committee
As a part of their celebrations on 3rd December, the Kilmarnock Disabled Committee are providing all disabled members and their personal assistants with a free Christmas lunch followed by a disco on the day. The Kilmarnock Disabled Committee fundraise twice a year to be able to fund this enjoyable event for their members.
