In the city of Sevastopol, the sports complex Sevastopol will be reconstructed by March, 2011. The stadium capacity will be increased from 1390 up to 5826 seats.
The local Union of Disabled People keep their fingers on the pulse and consult the development company on the best practices in creating accessible sports facilities.
15 seats for disabled fans are envisaged by the design project. It is less than recommended in the Technical Report CEN/TR 15913 “Spectator facilities – Layout criteria for spectators with special needs” and the Accessible Stadia Guide, but is a big step forward for the stadium that was not adapted to disabled fans’ needs at all. Low counters and accessible toilets will become another innovation at the new stadium.
CAFE is fully supporting the Union of Disabled People in Sevastopol with its knowledge, experience and ensuring that a good practice is applied in order to make sure that the new stadium will be a welcoming place for all football fans.
