POLISH WOODSTOCK KICKS RACISM OUT OF THE STADIUMS

Published on 2 August 2010

News from the ‘NEVER AGAIN’ Association

Polish Woodstock, the annual free music festival organized near the Polish-German border, gathered some 300,000 people this year. The ‘NEVER AGAIN’ Association contributed by organizing its 9th Anti-Racist Football Championship of Poland which proved highly popular with the festival audience. The festival goers had a chance to visit an exhibition on the multicultural history of Polish football, too.

- ‘This year we paid special attention to recruiting volunteers who are willing to take part in anti-racist activities planned around EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine’ - said Jacek Purski, a spokesman for the ‘NEVER AGAIN’ Association.

The event partners included the Warsaw University’s Social Project 2012, the Council of Europe Information Office, and the Mayor of Kostrzyn where the festival took place.

The ‘NEVER AGAIN’ Association is an independent anti-fascist organization which monitors racist incidents and conducts educational campaigns. It coordinates the Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) Eastern European Development Project supported by UEFA in the run up to the EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine.
